Develop Community Resilience
Part 1: The Structure

Instructor: Jim Phillips (view profile)

If you have listened to Jim speak on any number of topics, you soon recognize that he repeatedly refers to the fact that in really bad times we need each other. However, that association needs to be with the right people, which he refers to as “community”.

But just how do you develop a proper “community”? This program, along with some past ones he refers to, will help you understand why and how you do this. Jim will tell you that if you do not become a part of a functioning, stable and strong community on at least the first three of the levels he discusses in this program, your chances of making it through really bad widespread circumstances (like a “grid-down” world) are very poor — you’ll more than likely be a victim and simply not survive. Harsh words, but true, as history has demonstrated.

The past programs Jim refers to in this program are (as listed in the archives):

2/23/2016 — Thoughts on Leadership

The Importance of Building Community NOW — 7/28/15

You Can’t Go It Alone — 8/4/15

Preparedness from a Mayor’s Perspective — 1/20/15

Building the Bigger Community for Self-Reliance — 8/11/15

Seriously Consider Citizen Corps — 2/24/15

Get Involved — 2/2/2016

Instructor: Jim Phillips
Jim Phillips is a nationally known speaker and teacher who has professionally taught thousands of classes all across the United States for 40 years. For a number of years prior to this career, his hobby was teaching cold weather safety & survival.

Jim is a strong advocate of self-reliance living and family preparedness. He developed an entire preparedness curriculum by asking himself the question “What if?” and then setting out to discover what actually does and does not work.

The answers he seeks (and then teaches) must be based on true principles derived from first hand experience. Above all else, he believes that attitude and practical knowledge is more critical to survival than having a bunch of “stuff.”
