Protecting Property & Self From Wild Fires
In parts of the eastern U.S. the challenge has been way too much rain resulting in saturated soil and floods. Here in the Intermountain West and Southwest it’s just the opposite.
Our western wild fire season started more than a month early and already more acreage has burned than is sometimes seen in a whole year. This year promises to be a tough year for acreage lost and homes burned.
There are things you can do to significantly reduce the risk. For new construction it’s easy to implement various strategies, but what about existing homes. Can you really do more than just run and know that all may be lost?
In this program I’ll give you strategies that can make all the difference in the world. However, all of them have to be planned and implemented in advance. When the fire is a hundred yards away, it’s too late. You need know that you have done the things to give your property the best chance for survival and you must have left much earlier before your escape route could be cut off.
Jim Phillips is a nationally known speaker and teacher who has professionally taught thousands of classes all across the United States for 40 years. For a number of years prior to this career, his hobby was teaching cold weather safety & survival.
Jim is a strong advocate of self-reliance living and family preparedness. He developed an entire preparedness curriculum by asking himself the question “What if?” and then setting out to discover what actually does and does not work. The answers he seeks (and then teaches) must be based on true principles derived from first hand experience. Above all else, he believes that attitude and practical knowledge is more critical to survival than having a bunch of “stuff.” (“Who you are and what you know is far more important than what you have.”) Learn More About Jim.
